Am I Trustworthy?

(Biblical thoughts for discussion of the Coronet film by the same name.)

To be "trustworthy" is NOT simply to be an honest person.  It involves being worthy of confidence.  It includes having a reputation for faithfulness to an assigned task.  The film you are about to watch will afford those watching an opportunity to discuss the whole matter of being trustworthy.

You might want to spend some time giving consideration to the biblical material referred to here, as it will enable you to comment from a biblical prospective.  I have purposely withheld comment upon these verses.  Let the Holy Spirit teach and lead your thoughts and discussion.  These verses are by no means exhaustive or all inclusive, but they will give a point of reference.  Enjoy you time together!

Col 3:17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Col 3:23  And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

2Ch 31:20  And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God.

2Ch 31:21  And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

Rom 14:6  He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Rom 14:7  For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

Rom 14:8  For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

1Co 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Mat 24:44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Mat 24:45  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Mat 24:46  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Mat 24:47  Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Mat 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Right or Wrong?

(Biblical thoughts for discussion of the Coronet film by the same name.)

It is important that we learn that "right" and "wrong" do exist!  We must learn right from wrong and know within our hearts that we can discern between the two.  We must be convinced by conviction and NOT preference.  Right and wrong are proclaimed in hundreds of verses throughout the Word of God.  Notice the broad biblical principles found in the following verses:

Rom 14:5  One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Rom 14:22  Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

Rom 14:23  And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

1Jn 3:19  And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

1Jn 3:20  For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

1Jn 3:21  Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Pro 12:15  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

Pro 14:12  There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Pro 30:12  There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

1Co 2:15  But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

Appreciating Our Parents

(Biblical thoughts for discussion of the Coronet film by the same name.)

The lack of appreciation is very obvious in today's homes.  Mom and Dad are often thought to be the servants of the children and young people in the home.  This is certainly not in keeping with the Word of God.

This lack of appreciation also is experienced by the young people in the home who DO work hard to do their part and contribute to the well being of the family.  As you watch this film keep in mind the biblical principles found in the verses below.

Pro 31:10  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

Pro 31:11  The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

Pro 31:12  She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Pro 31:13  She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

Pro 31:14  She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

Pro 31:15  She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

Pro 31:16  She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

Pro 31:17  She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

Pro 31:18  She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

Pro 31:19  She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

Pro 31:20  She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

Pro 31:21  She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

Pro 31:22  She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

Pro 31:23  Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

Pro 31:24  She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

Pro 31:25  Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

Pro 31:26  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Pro 31:27  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Pro 31:28  Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Pro 31:29  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Pro 31:30  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Pro 31:31  Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Eph 6:1  Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Eph 6:2  Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

Eph 6:3  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Pro 6:20  My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Pro 6:21  Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

Pro 6:22  When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

Pro 6:23  For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Pro 23:22  Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.

Pro 23:23  Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Pro 23:24  The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

Pro 23:25  Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

Pro 23:26  My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

HOW TO KEEP A JOB

(Biblical thoughts for discussion of the Coronet film by the same name.)

Seems I hear someone saying, "This is not a very spiritual subject!"  The problem with such a statement is that it is simply NOT true!  For the true child of God ALL matters a "spiritual!"  We cannot compartmentalize our lives into "spiritual" and "secular" matters.  Besides, our families would be in bad shape if the "bread winners" could not hold a job.

Can we "hold" a job or "loose" a job without it affecting our Christian testimony?  Does the Word of God have nothing to say on this subject?

Study the following portions of the Word and then view the film.  You will soon see just how practical and spiritual this subject really is!

Pro 27:18  Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

Pro 17:2  A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

Pro 22:29  Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Gen 39:2  And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

Gen 39:3  And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

Gen 39:4  And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

Gen 39:5  And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

1Pe 2:18  Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

1Pe 2:19  For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

Ecc 9:10  Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might….

Col 3:17  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

1Ti 5:8  But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

2Th 3:10  For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

2Th 3:11  For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

2Th 3:12  Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

2Th 3:13  But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

1Th 4:11  And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

1Th 4:12  That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

Pro 24:30  I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

Pro 24:31  And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

Pro 24:32  Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

Pro 24:33  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

Pro 24:34  So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
